Today

Firstly, I guess I owe the world a Long Weekend - Part II. Let me just remember what else we did on the weekend.

It's a beautiful day today. The sun is deceivingly bright this morning, despite windchills outside in the minus-high teens. It feels like winter will never end, but still, this day is beautiful.

As you read this, please take a second to pray for the soul and family of Christian Rayos. I don't know him; I just saw "RIP..." on my cousin's MSN name and thought I owed him more than a .5 second glance. This boy (only two years older than my nephew) battled cancer for over a year, as shown in a youtube video (click on his name). The video is a simple montage of photos, mostly taken in his hospital room, some by him (which provide you with an interesting perspective).

As I watched the last moments of the video this morning, my CIO came to my desk and asked me to scan a letter he'd written so he can attach it and send it electronically to his friends and family. He is currently fighting pancreatic cancer, yet still comes into the office one day a week for a couple of hours. He is loud and cheerful as always, despite being in the middle of his first round of chemotherapy.

It's a beautiful day because this morning I've been blessed with more gentle reminders that now is the time to do what I need to do, to appreciate everything around me, to believe that I can do anything....all that good stuff.

"...And He is in the boat with us. He is living life with us and together as we cross through the seas and go through life He is there to help us through the toughest of times. All we need to do is call out to Jesus and He will help us through." - Robert A. Schuller, 02/03/2008
