My little guy is going through a "holy terror" phase right now, which should end once he gets into the thick of JK in a few weeks. Hubby, in his expert opinion and experience, insists that the boy need only be shown who's boss by another, bigger, kid one time and then he'll straighten out. I'm not sure I want this theory tested, but I do think that once he's surrounded by kids his age, he'll realize that he's not exactly the king of the castle (or, Spiderman of NYC, perhaps).

While I admit that his behaviour can get me totally stressed out, there are times when he's very transparent and I figure out his game.

This afternoon, I was scolding him for not listening and then we did a bit of back-and-forth, as he was getting mouthy. No bad words, thankfully, but he thought he trumped me by saying "Go to work." Oooooh, did that PISS. ME. OFF.

In silence, I got up, put my watch on and started walking towards the closet (to "get dressed for work", as he'd seen many mornings in months past).

I never saw a kid eat his words and wash them down with tears so fast.

Yes, I am still the boss.
