A movie called "Julie & Julia" is coming out in August and I definitely plan on watching it. This picture alone did it for me.

1. Meryl Streep is a genius. Look at her bad self, she can even act 6' 2".
2. The story involves cooking. Like that.
3. "Julie" is Julie Powell, the author of "Julie & Julia: My year of cooking dangerously". Here's the nutshell: Nearing 30 and trapped in a dead-end secretarial job, Julie Powell resolved to reclaim her life by cooking, in the span of a single year, every one of the 524 recipes in Julia Child's legendary Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Her unexpected reward: not just a newfound respect for calves' livers and aspic, but a new life--lived with gusto.
4. Hmmm, there's a second book: "Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 tiny apartment kitchen" Not sure what the difference is; must read both.
5. The name and sound of Julia Child take me back to my childhood when my big sisters used to do impressions of her in the kitchen. Best that I don't put into words the foolishness that I'm recalling in my head right now.
