Anti-skirt rule

Posted On 8:58 PM |

When my darling middle child was in kindergarten, together we created a gender just for her: girl that likes boy things. Now in Grade 2, she remains a tomboy. She loves basketball, soccer, and most other sports. At the same time, she also fancies a headband some days and has been seen playing with a doll or two once in a while. But Heaven help you if you suggest she wear a dress.

Preparations have now officially begun for her First Communion. Outfit. After much, much negotiation, she agreed to wear a pantsuit in a style that I think is very fitting for a girl that likes boy things. I am so excited to see her in this yet-to-be-sewn outfit...secretly in part because that means we're back into warmer weather...but really because I'm so glad that she'll be totally comfortable being herself that day instead of worrying about how much she looks like a frilly marshmallow.

I was just thinking about this yesterday (before you sent your PSYCHE!! email), and I pictured her in a pretty pantsuit. So cute!
