We drove down to Virginia for five days for Hubby's cousin's wedding. The driving was good, the shopping was great, the wedding itself was excellent, both visually and logistically (and if you know me, it takes a lot to get that rating!), but it was the company that made this trip most memorable. I have been blessed to have married into a family that never makes me feel like "an in-law". I have grown close to cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews over the last thirteen years, and it's a wonderful thing to see Hubby re-connect with all these long-distance relatives without missing a beat, and to see them all shower me and our children with just as much affection. It makes me appreciate much more the abundance of family I have right outside my door.
On a side note, it was a riot being just outside DC three days after the US election. Having a connection on Capitol Hill, we were able to indulge in some Obamarama ourselves:
