Home Stretch

I gave my notice of resignation to my boss on Friday.

I have been blessed with a manager I can confidently call my friend, so the conversation that followed was honest, complete and satisfying. The job was an absolute blessing at exactly the time that we needed me to return to full-time work. We were willing to offer certain sacrifices in return for the stability it provided us for 1.5 years. And now the priorities have changed and it's time for me to become the full-time mother I would rather be, and engross myself with things that I am more passionate about.

"I am only as productive as my least happy child" - Carolyn Buck Luce, Global Managing Partner, Ernst & Young and mother of four

An wonderful thing happened yesterday. My oldest was recognized for her efforts with the school running club, and my little girl was given the Academic Leadership award for her class. At a time when hubby and I were questioning our parenting efforts in the last year, it seems we did something right. It's funny - the whole working parent thing. In an earnest effort to serve and support your children, sometimes you end up not serving or supporting them the way they really need to be.

I look forward to the walks to school, growing my business, getting more than four hours of sleep per day, wearing comfy clothes, cooking, seeing my dear husband awake, helping with homework......24 more working days to go!

Life's too short not to do what you love. If you can financially put yourself in that position... do it now!! My dream job is a long road ahead but I think I'll get there eventually.
